Accessible Boat Trips & Cruising Holidays (Basingstoke Canal)

About

Accessible Boating's day boat "Dawn" is available for hire for day trips along the Basingstoke Canal from its base at Colt Wharf in Odiham. Trips on Dawn run from April to October, with special events during the year - see events calendar on the website for more details of events coming up.
In addition to the 2 crew, Dawn can accommodate a maximum of 10 passengers including up to four in wheelchairs. A typical day trip lasts for up to 4 hours, visiting either Odiham Castle, or the Barley Mow wharf.
For boarding, they provide a ramp onto the deck, from where a hydraulic lift gives easy access to the spacious cabin and toilet.
Cabin windows can be rolled up to give fresh air on warm days. Central heating keeps the cabin warm on cooler days.
There is a gas hob, with kettle and mugs for making hot drinks. Passengers are encouraged to bring their own picnic. Stackable chairs and a folding table are provided in the cabin and may also be used for picnics ashore.
Dawn's aft deck has a safety rail all around and is large enough for a wheelchair as well as the helmsman when under way.
Assistance dogs are welcome on board.

Accessible Boating's Madam Butterfly is a fully equipped holiday boat, sleeping 7. She has a hospital bed, hoist and fully accessible bathroom, allowing those with mobility problems to take a canal holiday accompanied by carers, friends and family.
Holidays on Madam Butterfly are managed on their behalf by Galleon Marine LLP. Further information can be found on Galleon's website: http://www.galleonmarine.co.uk/

About Accessible Boating Association

Accessible Boating Association was founded as a charity in 1986 by Mildred Stocks, who still takes an active part in the organisation.
They operate on the Basingstoke Canal, with their boats moored at Colt Hill, Odiham.
They work closely with the Basingstoke Canal Society, who maintain and improve the canal and its facilities.
They receive a great deal of support from Galleon Marine LLP, who provide moorings for their boats, and who manage bookings of their holiday boat, Madam Butterfly, on their behalf.

Rushmoor Link Community Directory

Welcome to the Rushmoor Link community directory. This is the place to find very local information about activities, groups and community services. Whether you are looking for support, to improve your health and wellbeing, socialise more, get active, learn something new or find a place to meet, Rushmoor Link is a good place to start.

How to get started. Choose a category. Information is sorted into categories by service or organisation name. The directory focuses on what is available locally through statutory, community and voluntary organisations.

Next step. Once you have hit the category button, scroll through the results. You can use the keyword search to narrow down the information (e.g., dementia, Aldershot, football).

It’s a simple system packed full of information. We recommend you do not use punctuation marks like commas (,) or apostrophes (’).

Spotted a mistake or something is missing? Please do contact us if you are aware that any information is incorrect or missing via info@rvs.org.uk.

If you are looking for information about adult residential care or care at home care, please visit Connect to Support Hampshire. There you can find information about care providers as well as advice and guidance to help you stay safe and well.

Happy searching!
