Hampshire and Surrey Hills Men’s Choir

About

Throughout the year the choir performs at various locations around the Rushmoor area, and sometimes further afield, to help local charities with their fundraising. They perform in churches, village halls and residential homes, helping to raise around £10,000 every year for local good causes. If you are considering organising such an event for your local charity, please contact the Concert Secretary - see website for details.

Twice a year they organise and present their own major charity concerts These perennial concerts support specific charities with local connections and are greatly enhanced with the addition of other talented artists as guests to add to the diversity and enjoyment of these highly popular occasions.

They meet at 7:30 p.m. every Monday at North Camp Methodist Church Hall, Lynchford Road, Farnborough, GU14 6EG. They also have occasional extra rehearsals before major concerts.

New recruits are not auditioned and are not expected to read music or be experienced singers – they will be helped to develop these skills by a very talented Music Director.
Each member is expected to attend regular rehearsals. The choir does take a short break at Easter (one week), Christmas (two weeks) and a summer break from mid-July to early September.

About Hampshire and Surrey Hills Men’s Choir

Previously known as “Rushmoor 'Odd Fellows' Male Voice Choir”, the choir is made up of a group of men based in the Hampshire/Surrey area who love to sing. Founded in 1960 to sing in the Aldershot Music Festival, approaches to local church choirs brought volunteers from many backgrounds with an odd one from here and an odd one from there, so the name “Odd Fellows” was coined. The new name reflects the growth in area from which the members and audiences now come.

The choir aim to entertain their audiences, to raise money for charity and to have fun doing it! In their concerts, they try to cater for all tastes with a repertoire ranging from classical to modern, from anthems and spirituals to show tunes and popular songs. They provide their services to charities and help to raise around £10,000 each year for local good causes.
