Southwood Woodland
About
Southwood Woodland covers 80 acres in Farnborough and is popular with families, offering a natural environment for walking and cycling. The woodland is designated as a Site of Importance for Nature Conservation and includes large areas of regenerating birch, together with mature oak field boundaries. Holly and hazel are other common species. Areas of alder, grassland and heathland form important habitats. Ground flora includes bluebells and ferns.
Conservation volunteering: The Southwood Woodland group runs work parties on the fourth Sunday of every month from 10:30am to 3:30pm. Anyone can take part as the group will provide tools and training.
Features and facilities include a car park with a disabled parking bay, benches, surfaced paths, signed trails and a 1.6km circular woodland walk.
